Dr Carlos Espejel
Consultant, Mine Planning
Carlos is a Mine Planning Engineer with strong experience in scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for green and brown field metalliferous projects.
Carlos started his career with GHD and has held a variety of roles including Project Engineer and Mine Planning Engineer for Glencore-Xstrata’s Project Evaluation and Mt Isa Mines projects. He has been with CRC ORE as a Mine Planning Engineer and Project Manager for 4-years.
Carlos is a specialist in long term mine planning incorporating financial and technical modelling, mining cost modelling, production scheduling (COMET), equipment selection/optimisation and engineering block modelling. Carlos also has strong experience with final pit optimisation (Whittle), pit design (Vulcan), reserves evaluation and metallurgical models.
Carlos holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical and Mining) from the University of Queensland and a Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering (Mine Management) from the University of New South Wales. He recently completed a PhD in Mine Planning Optimisation with the University of Queensland.
