The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mining Innovation Hub is being developed to be a vehicle to train professionals to further grow capacity and capability within Western Australia and Australia
With foundation partners; Curtin University’s Western Australian School of Mines, MRIWA, Central Regional TAFE and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder through its building the knowledge economy initiative, it is envisaged that the Hub will become a centre of excellence for technical knowledge transfer.
The development and delivery of innovative solutions to the global mining industry requires engaged and supportive people, especially onsite during implementation and testing. The Hub will help facilitate the building of the skills needed for a stronger future for mining through tailored training and professional development courses.
Educational courses & resources
Providing robust, tailored, professional development and educational resources for all stakeholders (industry, government and the community) is a key priority of the new Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mining Innovation Hub.
The Hub will provide professional development courses (face-to-face, recorded and/or online) in aspects of mining, innovation, entrepreneurship, and supportive technologies (e.g. robotics) as identified through regional consultation (“educational in-reach”).
The Eastern Goldfields hosts an exceptional multicultural and multilingual understanding of mining. This will be used to develop online multilingual educational resources for the regional and global mining industry.
Short online training topics and active learning content will be developed to assist operators, supervisors and managers across the mining and logistics value chain. These will include an array of new courses, alongside industry favourites including the Gold Operators Short Course (introductory level metallurgy) and Gold Processing Technology Course (gold plant optimisation).
Partnering for a strong future for our mining industry
These courses will be offered in partnership with the Central Regional TAFE; WASM and other organisations (both private and public).
The on-line platform will provide another avenue for METS companies and other training organisation to deliver relevant training modules to industry.
