Meet Tom, early career researcher

Meet Tom Payten, early career researcher with CRC ORE and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student at the University of Adelaide.

Tom’s project aims to develop a spectral reference library for mineral upconversion fluorescence.P1-005_-_Tom_Payten_at_work_-_resize_for_web.jpgTom Payten, early career researcher, at work.

Upconversion fluorescence is a phenomena which is widely studied in the biological/medical/photovoltaic fields, but has not been investigated in minerals. It has the potential to provide robust, mineral-specific identification on timescales that matter for mining operations at scale.

Find out more about Tom and his research on his CRC ORE researcher page.
